George De Leon's book is the textbook for creating and managing therapeutic communities which provide the environemnt in which addicts can effect the changes that will enable them to build the foundation for managing the risk of relapse for the rest of their lives successfully. I work in such a community and there is no better record and description of the complex factors that come together to make this special setting effective.
